The PCIe GEN 3 X16 to Mini SAS HD 8X Dual Port Adapter is a hardware device that allows for the conversion of a PCIe x16 slot on a computer's motherboard into two Mini SAS HD (SFF-8644) ports. These ports support SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) and SATA (Serial ATA) storage devices, including hard disk drives, solid-state drives, and tape drives.
This adapter supports PCIe 3.0, which provides up to 8 GT/s (gigatransfers per second) per lane of data transfer rate, resulting in a maximum bandwidth of 128 GB/s for the x16 slot. The Mini SAS HD ports support data transfer rates of up to 12 Gb/s per lane, allowing for a total bandwidth of up to 192 Gb/s per port.
