At its core is an integrated active ReDriver IC that re-amplifies, re-shapes, and re-times all 16 PCIe Gen 5 differential pairs at 32 GT/s per lane — extending reliable reach over PCB traces and cables without signal degradation. The card includes sophisticated on-board power management: a 12V TVS-protected input, a high-side N-MOS FET power controller, a PWM 12V-to-3.3V buck converter (5A, Eco-mode), and a 3.3V load switch with automatic restart on supervisor fault. Signal sideband management is handled through a 100 MHz clock buffer, SMBus switch, I/O expander (for out-of-band reset), and dedicated PERST#, WAKE#, and CLKREQ# bus buffer gates — all enabling robust OOB management of attached MCIO devices.

A shielded, twinaxial 50 cm interconnect cable terminated at both ends with MCIO 74-pin (SFF-TA-1016) connectors. Engineered specifically for PCIe Gen 5 signaling requirements, the cable construction uses individually shielded differential pairs with controlled 85 Ω ±10% impedance to minimize jitter, crosstalk, and EMI. Each of the 74 pins carries its assigned PCIe, power, or sideband signal through low-loss conductors that sustain the full 32 GT/s per-lane data rate. The inverse counterpart to the MCIO-2203-16X, this bridge card accepts two incoming MCIO 74-pin (x8 lane) cable connections and presents a full PCIe x16 mechanical and electrical slot output — enabling any standard PCIe add-in card (GPU, accelerator, NVMe controller, SmartNIC, etc.) to be driven from MCIO cable sources rather than a direct motherboard slot. The hot-plug capability means the inserted PCIe device can be powered on, connected, and initialized without requiring a full system reboot, making it particularly suited for server platforms that demand live storage maintenance and accelerator swaps. An integrated 6-pin GPU-style auxiliary power connector supplies the 12 V rail required by the inserted card, with an on-board 6A 12V-to-3.3V buck regulator providing local 3.3V auxiliary power. The card operates in x8 mode with a single MCIO input connected, and x16 mode when both MCIO inputs are used — provided the host CPU/BIOS supports x16 bifurcation into two x8 paths from the same port group.
